One Person's Trash Is Another Person's Treasure
I'm sure you've heard that saying... one person's trash is another person's treasure. That is so true. Something that means nothing to me, that I would put out with my trash bins for pick up, might be just the thing someone else has been looking for.
We have two grandsons, the oldest one being three years old. I remember when our girls were that age, we had a small table and chairs that they used for play dough, coloring, eating snacks, etc. I had been looking for one to buy for our grandsons, but they were all so expensive and not really what I wanted. One day I was driving down the road and sitting on someone's curb, in the rain, was the exact size table I wanted and two little chairs. It was a dark cherry wood and had stickers all over it - nothing I couldn't fix. I brought it home and sanded it and repainted it to match our kitchen. I had some leftover paint from when I redid our kitchen and bathroom cabinets. It turned out perfect and Simon loves sitting at his own table and playing with play dough or eating lunch. His brother is not quite old enough to sit there yet, but eventually they will both be enjoying our new treasure.
Have you ever found something that someone else was getting rid of and thought to yourself, "that's exactly what I need!" Whether you put it on the curb for someone to take or donate it to a shelter or a clothes closet, most of the time there is someone out there who would love that thing you don't need anymore. October is a great time to clean out closets and toy boxes and donate all of things you don't need anymore. It's a great way to teach our children to give things away that they don't use anymore, especially as we get closer to Christmas and so many new things will be coming into our homes.
Happy Fall Y'all! Enjoy this amazing weather!
